The Importance of Utilizing Different Versions of the Bible
Have you ever been in a situation where you have difficulty understanding the Bible? You pick it up, you start to read, and it just seems like gibberish. You are not alone; I have been there.
That is why it is good to have multiple versions of the Bible. Now, we all know that a lot of people will say that the King James Version is the closest translation to the scrolls. However, it can be discouraging when you cannot understand what you are reading.
Yes, you can pray and ask God to provide you with wisdom to understand the word. There is nothing wrong with that and should be done no matter what version you use. You can even ask a mentor, a pastor, a teacher, a priest, a family member, a friend, etc. to help you understand what it is you are reading.
However, you can also cross reference with different versions of the Bible.
So, before we jump into the “I don’t have time to do that much reading” or “that is too expensive to buy that many bibles”. Let’s take a moment and talk about some of the more popular different versions of the bible.
To start with the most basic, King James Version (KJV). These are usually cheapest to find. You can get an “Award and Gift” KJV Bible for $10 or less usually at any store. People often say that this is the version that is most accurate. While it might be the most accurate, it can also be the most difficult to understand.
